We’re about a month late, but it’s finally starting to feel like fall in California.
Everybody loves fall. If fall was a person, it’d be Emma Stone—when you ask girls what they think of fall, they say, “Omg, I love fall! It’s so cute!” and when you ask guys what they think of fall, they say, “Dude. Fall’s so sexy, I wanna marry it.”
Summer was nice, but fall brings cooler weather, beautiful foliage, and new episodes of New Girl—which might just be the best show on tv. (YEA I SAID IT, OK?)
Here are the 5 best things about fall.
1. Pumpkin errrything
I’m not into horoscopes or astrology, but once we hit the Autumnal Equinox every year, my body starts convulsing with an insatiable hunger for orange squash. In very much the same way bears know to start hibernating and geese fly south, I (and I know I’m not alone) begin stockpiling pumpkin in my body to last me the rest of the year. This usually leads to a few dozen pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin cheesecake, and a few failed gourd-based experiments—I’ll try pumpkin in just about anything if someone comes up with it.
All strange, but deeply satisfying. I’m all for any excuse to jam more pumpkin into my bloodstream. I mean mouth. Ok, still sounds weird.
2. Movie/cuddling season
First, let’s establish the ground rules for anybody who’s really naïve or has a severe lack of game. “Let’s watch a movie at my house” and “Let’s have a cuddle sesh at my house” are synonymous, especially during fall season.
There are times when movie watching is innocuous, like if it’s with a family member or you’re watching The Land Before Time, but for the most part, it’s an excuse to share a blanket. That should be your other cue. Who uses blankets when they’re watching a movie?
Still, if you’ve got that special someone, go on and get down with your cuddling self. American Beauty or Bruce Almighty? That’s groovy. [#ArianaGrande]
3. The new government budget
Just kidding.
4. Layering Clothes
I’m not a gorgeous fashion blogger like Jenn Im, but what I do know is that fashion choices in the summer are limited. T shirt. Shorts. (I actually never wear shorts, so those are actually out.) Jeans. Flip flops (I actually never wear flip flops. Also out.) Sneakers.
During the fall? It’s like the first time you see a Coca-Cola freestyle machine. Boots! Scarves! Coats! Jackets! Blazers! Gloves! Mittens!
Fall is the perfect season to step up your fashion game. Guys, go nuts and buy that jacket from H&M with 31 pockets and a hood and a zipper and 9 buttons
Ladies, lemme see those floppy hats! (That sounded really dirty, but seriously, I LOVE FLOPPY HATS)
5. Cold, rainy Saturday afternoons spent with a cup of coffee and a great book.
Except nobody actually does this.
5. It’s almost Christmas
Fall’s great and all, but let’s be honest, its primary function is to let us know that soon, it’ll be Christmas season. (No, I don’t mean winter. I mean Christmas.) It’s the same feeling you have when your waiter comes to your table, clears your salad and bread plates, and gives you a new fork.
